What mantra is actually?

Mantra : The Sound of Life

 Mantra = man + tra.

‘Man’ can be referred as mind. What the mind does, it thinks. ‘Tra’ comes from the trai which means to protect. So mantra is that thought, that thinking which protects. It frees from the samskaras which are the root cause of birth. Repetitive thinking is called worry but repetitive mantra brings freedom, joy, bliss.

Mananat trayate iti mantrah – “By whose manana (constant thinking or recollection) one is protected or released from the cycle of birth and death is mantra.”

World is originated from the sound, it vibrates. So we all are sound thus sound affects us. When we listen to horror loud sound it scares us but when we hear soft music it relaxes us. We all have this kind of experience of sounds. Different sound combinations, different vibrations give rise to different geometrical patterns. You can see it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvJAgrUBF4w

Up till now it is believable that sound affects.

"If you want to find the secrets of universe
think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration".

Mantra is a sound. A sound can create anything or everything, it created the whole world. That means mantra has potential of creation and that what has potential inside of creation is a seed(bija). So some mantras which are in the seed form called bija-mantra.

As the sound creates the form, each mantra also has some form like ‘Om Shri Hanumate Namah’ is the form of Lord Hanuman, ‘Om Namah Shivaya’ is the form of Lord Shiva. When the sadhaka recites the mantra continuously all the other thoughts fade away and only the mantra left that’s the point where meditation happens. This can be experienced only though determination of pratice, love and devotion and yes, the faith in the mantra. It purifies the mind, the sound created by the mantra has deep psychological or mental effects and we experience the calmness, the utter bliss. When the water is calm and clear on the surface of river we can see what is inside the see the reflection is clear. Same when the mind is clear and calm we can experience the pure bliss by experiencing the truth.

And it is now believed by modern science too that ‘OM’ is the sound of universe. NASA has also recorded the sound of the sun which again is ‘OM’. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRDe1IYllX0. Our ancient gurus and sages were already aware of this fact. Our vedic hindu scriptures mention about OM and its importance, that’s the reason all vedic hymn generally start with ‘OM’. According to Hindu Philosophy before existence and beyond existence is only one reality, Brahman, and the first manifestation of Brahman expressed as OM. For this reason, OM is considered as a start and end (aadi and aant), and thus is prefixed and suffixed to all Hindu Prayers.

Happy and Blissful Mantra Chanting!!!
